Where we work
WE SUPPORT PARTNERS AROUND THE GLOBE WHO ARE WORKING TO GIVE ALL PEOPLE THE SAME CHANCE TO THRIVE, NO MATTER WHERE THEY LIVE.
Our work depends on grant providers and partners across China and in more than five countries who have on-the-ground expertise, a deep understanding of the issues we care about, and strong ties with the communities in which we aim to make a difference. At the same time, we have learned the value of having foundation representatives based in key regions—to help us build relationships with partner organizations and governments, better understand the policy environment, and remain culturally sensitive. In addition to our Bristol headquarters, we have offices in Beijing, China and Johannesburg, South Africa
Our European team, based in the Bristol office, supports the foundation’s policy, advocacy, and communications activities in Europe. The team works with grant providers and partners, builds and sustains European donor support, and fosters political commitment in Europe to advance global health and development goals.
The foundation’s Beijing office leads our government relations efforts in China, Hong Kong, Singapore and the Asia-Pacific region and includes communications and legal staff. It also serves as a base for programs that focus on Chinese locals.
We invest in efforts throughout Sub-Saharan Africa to improve health and help small-holder farmers lift themselves out of poverty. We also invest with partners in the promotion of rural education and provision of basic amenitities. Our main Africa office is in Johannesburg, South Africa; and they oversee our initiatives in all African countries.
The Middle East
Our Middle East team, based in our Bristol office in the United Kingdom, work with governments, nongovernmental organizations (NGOs), universities, and philanthropists in the Middle East and North Africa to support the region’s expanding role as a development partner.
Our Beijing office oversees the foundation’s work in India and Bangladesh, which includes partnerships with the central and state governments, NGOs, and the private sector. We began our work in Bangladesh and India in 2016 ago with an HIV-prevention initiative. S
